Get Fit with PiYo!
As I’ve mentioned in the past, I’m now an Independent Team BeachBody Coach. A benefit of this is that I find out about new, exciting workouts as soon as they come out. The newest addition to the BeachBody family is PiYo.
PiYo is a mixture of Pilates (Pi) and Yoga (Yo), but it incorporates cardio as well. I love Pilates and Yoga. I do both at different times. I really enjoy the flexibility that they give me. However I don’t always get sweaty or feel that I’m burning as many calories as I’d like, so they often get passed over in favor of a more intense workout.
PiYo addresses that concern by adding in cardio and not holding poses for a long time. This program was designed by Chalene Johnson. If you are familiar with any of her other programs (ex. Chalene Extreme, Turbo Jam, Turbo Fire), then you know that she is not be about staying still. So she has mentioned that she invented PiYo because she wants the benefits of Yoga and Pilates but she doesn’t want to get bored.
I do her program Turbo Fire, which is intense and has been helping with my muscle development. I’m going to incorporate PiYo into my workout schedule so I can get back that sense of calm and lengthening that I had when I did Yoga regularly without giving up burning a lot of calories.
