jacket by Dots-Dots, dress-thrifted (label removed), feather necklace-Burlington Coat Factory, textured blue tights-Dollar Tree, Vivica wedges-ShoeDazzle

If the measure of a successful Thanksgiving is found within the meal then ours was pretty good. We had 3 types of pie! (pecan, pumpkin, mincemeat-not my thing). We also got to catch up with family that we hadn’t seen in a while.

I had found this totally cute dress at a thrift store not long ago & loved it. It’s more of a spring/summer dress but I couldn’t wait that long to wear it. Since it has a bit of teal in it I added this teal jacket I got at Dots a while back. It’s a bit of an awkward wear since it hits at the elbow. Later I had to add a cardigan for warmth.

I also had a teal feather necklace that I had bought when I thought that I was going as Kesha for Halloween. I ended up being a flapper instead. Though I hadn’t seen myself in the feather necklace trend prior to this I thought that since I had it I might as well wear it. I ended up digging it.

I just had to wear my cute Vivica wedges (also seen here) from ShoeDazzle with it. The nude tights that I’d laid out had a run and I wasn’t keen on wearing leggings that hit at the ankle with these shoes. That’s how I decided on my super blue tights (also seen here). They take it a bit over the top but then again so am I.

Jovovich-Hawk for Target Dobby Shirt-eBay, black Bongo jeas-Kmart, Peeping Tom floral lace cami-Dots, teal necklace by Crystalline Dreams-gift, belt-Dots, Clarks boots-thrifted

In 2008 actress Milla Jovovich also had a thriving upscale clothing line called Jovovich-Hawk, which she started in 2003. In 2008 she and business partner Carmen Hawk collaborated with Target as part of their Go International Collection. The line was fun with a boho hippie bent. Earlier this year Target rereleased a few dresses from the line.

I wasn’t in the loop about this line then but ever since I heard about it a bit later I’ve been meaning to buy a piece via eBay. Last week I finally bought two pieces (super cheap!). I got the above Dobby Top and a very sweet corset dress that you will see in another post soon. It’s a bit sheer. I could have just wore a black bra underneath but instead I went with a cami. Then I added my black Bongo jeans, a belt from Dots, my trusty boots and a super cute necklace from Crystalline Dreams (also seen here). I really like the top. It’s thin and breathes. It has a flowy hem but I decided to make it look a bit more structured with the belt.

This is for the IFB Project #21: What’s your Favorite Style Decade?. At first I wasn’t going to participate because my style isn’t really defined. I enjoy a lot of different things and am all over the place. It’s pretty obvious that I will always love 90’s dresses though.

So here’s a quick look back at some of my recent 90’s duds.

It mentions the 90’s as “Flannel, doc Martens, denim, grunge”, which don’t get me wrong, I like but I’m going with the more feminine bent. Plus I got sick of flannel (for the most part) in 1995 (when I had like 3 rotating flannel shirts).

I’m mentioning 90s dresses so I’m including the

New York & Company gray v-neck ribbed sweater-thrifted, Miley Cyrus & Max Azria black draped pocket knit skirt-Walmart, Bongo floral leggings-Kmart

(Second clearer picture is to show texture. I recently adjusted the settings on my camera, so hopefully there won’t be any more out of focus or Myspace style shots in the future.)

I wore this the day after I went to a Halloween party so I’d already had my hair parted to the side for my flapper costume. I decided to go with it and wear it like that again. It looked kind of ’80s.

I was excited to wear this new sweater that I had just bought. I’ve been coveting some fitted sweaters this fall so I decided to hit up a thrift store and dig until I found some. I succeeded in finding a black cardigan and this gray pullover. I paired it with my Bongo leggings, also seen here. Then I threw this Miley Cyrus & Max Azria skirt over it that I picked up on sale at Walmart a while ago. It’s more of an awkward wear for someone with thighs (it has draped pockets over the sides) but I don’t care about fashion rules & what not.

The current IFB Project is Channel Your Inner Superhero so this seems like a good time to talk about the Red Badger.

When I turned 25 I decided to have a costume birthday party. My sister and I actually convinced almost everyone to dress up. It was so much fun.

I created my own superhero called the Red Badger for the occasion. It started when I spotted some really cute red boyshort panties that tied in the back while shopping at a department store. They screamed superhero. At the time I considered underwear a viable outfit choice.

I paired them with one of my favorite bra by Jezebel and some red heels. Then I ran around getting accessories such as fabric (just tied around my neck) as a cape, a red mask, hair dye, red fishnets and a birthday pin. I would have been done but spotted a mustache in Party City and decided that the Red Badger was definitely a transsexual superhero. Everyone loved playing with the mustache including the guys which I found hilarious, since they could grow one.

I had a wardrobe change.

Brian Molko of Placebo in Velvet Goldmine

My sister created her own superhero called the Purple Peacock. She paired a cute tank & dress shorts with fishnets, boots, a purple top hat, feather boa and fancy mask. I do believe that she was heavily influenced by Brian Molko in Velvet Goldmine.

Timmy/his creation

Something incredibly neat was that my friend Timmy made and gifted me with this doll dressed as me.

You may want to consider putting together your own fun look for Halloween for a unique look.
