At this special time of year I want to share some of my favorite Christmas books with you. With the magical invention of e-books you can actually buy and start reading a heartwarming story in no time flat. Of course I’ve included some Blaze novels. It’s awesome indeed when a romance novel is holiday themed.
The titles of the books link to their Amazon page.
Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris
“Snowball just leads elves on, elves and Santas. He is playing a dangerous game.”
This a book of holiday themed short stories by David Sedaris. I am a big fan of his. He uses his own experiences to write disturbing yet hilarious fictionalized stories. Everyone says The SantaLand Diaries is the best story and they’re correct. Sedaris tells shares many nuggets about the time he was an elf in Macy’s. Season’s Greetings to Our Friends and Family!!! is told as a long Christmas letter. The twist is that the family has a ton of problems but are trying to be chipper anyway. Dinah, the Christmas Whore involves Sedaris and his family having a hooker over for Christmas Eve to get her out of harm’s way. Front Row Center with Thaddeus Bristol is a mean review of a school pageant. Based on a True Story is about religion and the media. Christmas Means Giving is about neighbors who turn the Christmas season into a war of keeping up with the Jones’.
Big for Christmas (Sweet Valley Twins) by Francine Pascal.
Well for some reason an e-book version of this hasn’t been released, which is a ridiculous. This is my all time favorite Christmas book. It’s basically a knock off of the awesome movie Big centered on the Sweet Valley High twins, Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield. The girls wish to be big for Christmas after getting into trouble with their parents and their wish comes true. Overnight they become adults. It’s quite charming. I would highly recommend buying a used copy. Yes, it’s a kid’s book but it’s still good. (Also I’ve had my copy since I was a young ‘un.) While looking this up I found out that there are other magical Christmas Sweet Valley High books that are also mostly out of print. What a bummer.
It’s a Wonderfully Sexy Life (Harlequin Blaze) by Hope Tarr
A lonely cop who lives with her overprotective family and isn’t as confident as she likes ends up going back in time and tries to save the life of her new love. A sexy suspenseful take on It’s A Wonderful Life.
The rest of these are romance compilations. Yes these are older but the new title that I read this season was unimpressive.
by Janelle Denison, Isabel Sharpe & Jennifer LaBrecque
These 3 stories are about employees at a food and travel magazine who participate in a Secret Santa trade that goes sexy.
A Blazing Little Christmas (Harlequin Blaze)
by Jacquie D’Alessandro, Joanne Rock & Kathleen O’Reilly
These stories are set at a cozy resort. One story is about a Christmas engagement, another is about revenge sex and the third is about two characters reconnecting after high school.
by Jamie Sobrato, Jill Shalvis & Jacquie D’Alessandro
There are 3 sexy stories in this book, all concerning firefighters, 2 are the male protagonist and 1 is the female protagonist. Up on the Housetop by Jamie Sobrato hooks you when the future lovers meet while the woman is stuck on her roof half naked.
More Christmas Harlequin Blaze Books
There are many more Blaze titles that are set during the Christmas season. I haven’t read all of them but I’m sure many are fun. You can find some here on Amazon. I did read Christmas Male and Twelve Nights. They were decent but not great. I don’t recall why but I traded Santa, Baby so I know that I didn’t love it.
