pj main ed

My absolute favorite/the only gay bar in my town has theme parties. They usually include performances by some fun drag queens and a drink special. A bit different from the pajama parties I had as a young girl. Well this past January they had a Pajama Party. Of course, I had to go, despite the snow.

In our current world this is probably extremely unusual but I’ve never went anywhere in my pajama pants. I’m not a department store shopper who goes like that. It’s not a slight, it’s just not me. So this was new, for me.

pj ring ed

Wrap Snap N Go Hair Rollers in Leopard Print-borrowed, leopard statement ring-gifted from a friend, Pornormance, pink, fleece cocktail print pajama pants-Dots, Abbey Dawn Rock On Leopard Boots-Just Fab (not pictured), Lulu by Lulu Guinness rain tote print bag-JC Penney (not pictured)

In deciding what to wear I almost immediately decided not to wear a full on two piece pajama set. I guessed that not many would be participating. Plus I wanted to be current and ya know the thing to do these days is a tank & pj pants. That’s what I did, with my spin.

I dug out some old/rarely worn hot pink pjs from the now closing Dots (goddamn I feel old) to pair with my James Deen tank. I was originally gonna include an alternate tank below in the Get the Look section but you probably already own one. Plus if you don’t know who James Deen is, get schooled. The info’s right on this site.

I have thick, curly, dry hair. There isn’t all that much you can do with it. Usually it’s just put a ton of product(s) in it and then leave it down. Not that night though. All of the sudden I thought of putting it up in curlers like people do when they are curling their hair over night. I don’t own any as I don’t need them. So I borrowed these super cute leopard print ones from a family member. Yes, it is supposed to look intentionally messy.

Ah, now there was a theme emerging-hot pink with leopard print accents. I was given a few costume jewelry rings from my sis on Christmas so I found the big leopard one and voila. Yeah, I also wore my Abbey Dawn leopard print boots from JustFab (affiliate link) and my daily Lulu by Lulu Guinness bag (both are no longer for sale). However I’d totally go with the little clutch below, if you’re into clutches. It’s fun.

Then I topped my often makeup free face with a ton of pink makeup. It had the side effect of making me appear younger, a win/win really. It was both over the top and flattering.

How was my night? Okay. Not many dressed up, as I expected. The friendly bartender thanked me for dressing up. I think a couple of girls said they liked my hair and pants. One guy did show up in a full on red onesie, which rocked! Most of my stories are just me and this one is no exception. I tried to rope a student from school into stopping by but she declined. The show was fun, as always. There was a sad group of people there celebrating a chick’s 21st birthday. While she was very nice, she was also trash drunk. This was a light drinking night for me and I just tried to step out of the way as she fell all over the place. Luckily there were couches, which you know helps when drunk people are falling/climbing all over the place. Also, I was worried she might hurl.

I didn’t stay all that long but hey, I love dressing up & watching the shows so whatever.

New shoes!

Yes, I made my selections and created these polyvores at the very beginning of January. However due to personal issues my writing has been on the back burner.

Don’t worry though. Sometimes even if a shoe is currently sold out in your size it will come back in stock. Plus I chose some shoes that were fairly new but not new in January. Many of those are on sale. Kickass!

January 2013 Shoe Club Picks-heels

(from top right clockwise)
Kaylie (Sole Society)-These 4 3/4″ tall suede open toe heels with bow detail come in dark taupe, black iridescent and emerald treasure (my pick!).
Marisca (ShoeDazzle)-These 5.75″ tall peep toe platforms feature striking criss cross straps come in nude/tan or black.
Bianca (Shoe Mint)-These 5.5″ tall leather and suede platforms are super cute. They come in nude, red ikat and rosewood.
Reina (ShoeDazzle)-These 5.5″ tall faux patent t-strap platforms feature ShoeDazzle’s pink Signature sole. They come in black and green.
Tay (ShoeDazzle)-These 5.5″ tall faux suede pump has awesome crystalline embellishments. They come in taupe.
Sami (ShoeDazzle)-These 6″ tall velvet platform pumps with studs come in black. They also have a bright pink insole.
Sorcha (ShoeDazzle)-These 6″ tall faux patent leather peep toe pumps rock some neat spiked embellishments. They come in black, red or nude/tan.
Lacey Days Shoe (JustFab)-These 5 1/2″ tall mary janes from Iron Fist feature a ladylike, lace and skull print. In addition to red they come in beige. Plus they offer a matching bag. Now I adore this print and would own these already if it weren’t for the fact that I’m trying to cut back on buying shoes that I can’t wear daily. They are also a part of the current buy one get one free sale from JustFab.
Phoebe (ShoePrivee)-These 6″ tall peep toes are accented with some fun studs. They are available in teal and black or nude and black.

January 2013 Shoe Club Picks-boots & booties

(from top right clockwise)
Lolita Love Bootie (JustFab)-These 6″ tall leopard, polka dot and removable flower booties are so amazing! They are definitely on my must buy list. They are also a part of the current buy one get one free sale from JustFab.
X Marks the Spot Bootie (JustFab)-These 5 1/4″ platform booties come in an awesome blue leopard print. Plus the heel and front platform are covered in faux suede. These are also a part of the current buy one get one free sale from JustFab.
Cecile (JustFab)-These 5″ tall booties with side bow come in teal, black or taupe.
Amsterdam (JustFab)-These 5″ tall buckle strapped boots are stunning. I am so close to buying these. They have also been a top selling shoe on JustFab all month long.
Wakana (ShoeDazzle)-These 4.75″ tall velvet knee hight boots feature adjustable buckles and a neat open back. They come in black, red or purple. Plus they are currently half off.
Rock On (JustFab)-These 1″ tall boots from Avril Lavigne’s Abbey Dawn collection are a real eye catcher, especially in the leopard. They also come in black. I myself had to have them and bought these so let me give you the scoop. They zip up the side, lace up the front and have adjustable studded skull buckles at the top. You have to size up in Abbey Dawn if you are a half size (I’m an 8.5) so I got a 9 in these. Even with that they are still tight in the calves even after unloosening the laces most of the way. I would say to size even higher but the heel is slightly loose on me. They are really unique though. They are another item in the JustFab buy one get one free sale.
Klarissa (ShoeDazzle)-These 5″ tall faux suede bootie features rear laces and a side zipper. They come in purple, blue and black. Plus they are current half off!
Manslayer Bootie (JustFab)-These 5″ tall studded rocker style peep toe booties are edgy and sexy. I was told by my ex that they are sexy so there’s a man’s opinion for you. They are a part of the current buy one get one free sale from JustFab as well.
Simmy (ShoePrivee)-These 6″ tall faux suede leopard print wedges include a side zipper and gold heel. These are amazing. I would have already gotten them for myself if it weren’t for the fact that the heel looks a bit narrow for me to walk around regularly in.

Since I’m a member of those shoe of the month clubs I thought that it would be fun to browse through all of them and choose my favorites for the month of March. Some shoe of the month clubs will charge your card if you don’t pass on that month by a certain date (after you’ve made your first purchase) while others have dropped that requirement. So be aware of that.

March 2012 Shoe Club Picks-Wedges

The clubs are featuring some darling pastel and bright wedges this month that put me in mind of a sorbet.
(from top right clockwise)
Nicci (ShoeDazzle)-These 6.5″ tall faux suede platforms come in orange, white & green (my favorite!)
Phebe (Sole Society)-These 7″ tall faux leather platforms come in mint (my favorite!), nude (a pinky nude) & coral.
Marguerite (JustFab)-These 6 1/2″ tall cork wedges come in yellow (my favorite!), nude & fuschia.
Lorna (ShoeDazzle)-These 6.25″ tall faux snakeskin & faux suede wedges are a bit more understated and wearable. They come in tan (my favorite) and orange.
Octavia (ShoeDazzle)-These 6.5″ tall faux leather wedges come in black, tan and salmon (my favorite!). The black are really wearable looking though.
Pulse (ShoePrivee)-These 6″ tall funky, colorblock micro-suede wedges come in blue or black.
Phebe (Sole Society)-in coral
Drinna (ShoeDazzle)-These 6.75″ tall faux snakeskin cork wedges feel very Jimmy Choo meets the club. They come in black or pink (my favorite).
Skyla (ShoeDazzle)-(in the middle) These 7″ tall canvas wedges feature a fun double buckle. They come in black, taupe or salmon (my favorite).

March 2012 Shoe Club Picks-Heels

(from top right clockwise)
Thomasina (JustFab)-These 6″ tall heels are also available in some fab pastels, light coral, lilac & mint.
Nikki (ShoePrivee)-These 6″ tall satin sandals with faux leather piping are super club worthy. Hey, I’ll walk around barefoot whenever need be, but seriously, they’re hot. They come in turquoise (my favorite!) and lime (can you say “fly girl”).
Thomasina (JustFab)-in lilac
Chevron (ShoePrivee)-These 6″ tall glitter embellished faux leather pumps with gold cap toes and gold finished heels are stunning.
Bethania (JustFab)-These 6.5″ tall faux suede lovelies look semi demure from the front but feature a sexy corset detail on the back. They come in blush (a blushy pink) & red.
Kyle (Sole Society)-These 6 1/4″ faux leather loafer pumps are so ugly they’re hot. They come in goldenrod (a deep yellow), red (my favorite) & taupe.
Bethania (JustFab)-in red
Adelaide (ShoeDazzle)-These 7″ tall faux leather woven pumps come in black, metallic/multi (bangin’, my favorite!) & nude.

Click here to visit this set on Polyvore (includes direct links to most of the shoes shown).

Chloe (ShoeMint)-These 6.75″ tall suede platform Mary Janes come in taupe, turquoise (my favorite) & black. I couldn’t clip these but there was (surprisingly) this embeddable video of them.

To join any of these clubs simply click the invite links below. Most of the clubs started out at a price point of almost $40 though ShoePrivee now has tiers (some of which are more expensive). Shoe Mint’s styles are almost $80 a pair because they use real animal skins (leather, suede, etc.)
Tip: If you become a member of a club and don’t purchase right away they may send you a discount later to entice you.

These are a few of the pieces that I love this fall.

Fitted Sweater

Fitted Sweater by missemmamm featuring a gold sequin cardigan

As I mentioned recently I’m totally mad over cardigans and other types of fitted sweaters this fall. I find them a bit tricky to find just because I have super long arms. I’ve always found soft cardigans sweetly sexy. Aside from a cardigan the Shawl Collar Wrap Sweater by Sofia Vergara that I tried on here would definitely be a top choice.

Glitter Shoes

Glitter Shoes by missemmamm featuring qupid shoes

Glitter pumps are gorgeous so basically every brand has jumped on the trend, which I’m stoked about. I recently purchased Temptress (gorgeous) from ShoeDazzle but despite that fact I am still longing for more shiny shoes. Some of the above styles are available at Kmart and are also very cute in person. If I buy another pair they will probably be a platform or a wedge so I can wear them more often. Sparkly shoes are so popular that JustFab has an entire collection devoted to them called Night Lights.

Cloche Hat

Okay, these cloche hats are just darling. It’s no surprise that they are readily available. It is likely that my passion for these was kindled by my recent outing as a flapper for Halloween. Of course you already know that I am a crazy hat lady.

Plus they will keep your head toasty!

A Dark Lipstick

A Dark Lipstick by missemmamm featuring flower jewelry

Recently I’ve been almost exclusively reaching for deep reds and plums when adorning my lips, in particular Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Metallic Seduction (included above). I’m also coveting the classy Glamour 101 from Lime Crime. I mostly included brands that I am personally a fan of here. They are soft and provide good color payout.

Animal Print

Leopard and other animals prints are no stranger to fall fashions but that doesn’t mean that I’m overlooking them. Although I’m not currently into an all over animal style look I am fond of animal prints in small doses this fall. Of course I’m most drawn to almost any style of leopard shoe.

(There are currently ShoeDazzle 1/2 off Groupons available. Skip to the end to snag yours.)

A few days ago I was thrilled to see that ShoeDazzle had released their own interpretation of the classic Hermes Birkin bag, the Lyon. I really wanted the red and am also loving the green. I took a day to think about it since I try not to buy many bags. When I checked the next day it was already sold out in green. I snagged one in red. They are now also out of red. You can currently choose from camel or black I also recommend getting on the waitlist (they call you when they get them in) and/or stalking it (checking the page frequently for restocks) in the color that you want. I have bought many of my ShoeDazzle purchases after they’ve sold out and come back in stock so I can tell you that it’s very likely that you could still get your first color choice if you are adamant. All colors are currently in stock.

The actual Birkin bag is a celebrity favorite, having been featured on Sex and the City and on the arms of many stars. I am also a big fan of the Hermes Kelly bag, as seen in Le Divorce. I even had a jelly knockoff of it that I bought at Dots a few years back. Who knows? Maybe ShoeDazzle will interpret that one in the future.

ShoeDazzle is also currently featuring a really cute wedge with a bow, Tillie in brown, black or pink (my favorite). It is their interpretation of the Christian Louboutin Miss Cristo.

JustFabulous (also known as JustFab) is currently showcasing this lovely shoe, the Makeeda in blush, blue, red or black. It is their version of the Christian Louboutin Clou Noeud. I am really feeling blush but the black would go with so many outfits and the blue is so unexpected.

Just Fabulous' Makeeda

ShoeDazzle and JustFab are monthly shoe clubs. This means that you are charged a set amount ($39.99) whether or not you have ordered by a certain date each month. You can choose to spend this on any item that they are selling. You are not required to actually make a purchase each month. Just skip that month by the specified date. It’s very easy. You know that I wouldn’t participate if it were difficult. You can sign up for ShoeDazzle here and you will get about 20% off of your first purchase (making it $32). You can sign up for JustFab by going here and your first purchase will only be $31.96 (20% off).

Update-May 2012-Lyon is back in cute candy colors. Tillie is also back in the original styles and new fun prints, I favor the orange. I’m pretty sure Makeeda is also still available.

If you are new to ShoeDazzle you can go buy a Groupon and get your first pair or bag for only $19 (1/2 off). You can buy 1 per person + 1 as a gift. This is only good on new ShoeDazzle accounts. The reason that I am listing multiple Groupons is that once a sale ends you usually are able to use it in 24 hours. So if you are in a hurry then you would want to purchase the earliest now or maybe you get paid in a day or 2 and need to wait until then to buy it. There is also the possibility that you would need to buy more than one. (6 hours left) (1 day and 5 hours left) (2 days and 5 hours left)
