In collaboration with Sammy Sunshine, I bring you our first He Said, She Said movie review. Watch us volley this new and controversial superhero flick back and forth.

3.5~missemmamm
4.5~Sammy Sunshine
out of 5 stars

BEWARE~~~ALL THE SPOILERS

(we actually caught this opening night, but I just got this up)

batman staring contest

Watch the entire video for our full thoughts. I transcribed a few good bits below.

(on the nightmares)
“too many nightmare scenes”~Sammy Sunshine

Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman
(on Wonder Woman)
“Wonder Woman kicked some ass in that movie.”~Sammy Sunshine

“He made a really good point…if they hadn’t told you Wonder Woman was gonna be in the movie, it would have been a lot more interesting when you find out who Wonder Woman was.”~missemmamm

superman takes the stand
(on the politics in the film)
“You know how I feel about the superheroes, they’re superheroes.”~Sammy Sunshine

Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor
(on Jesse Eisenberg)
“I will say, Jesse Eisenberg, I did not like him as Lex Luthor.”~Sammy Sunshine
“I really liked him.”~missemmamm
“He was acting too Jokery.”~Sammy Sunshine

Jeremy Irons as Alfred
(on Alfred)
“Jeremy Irons is a fucking lead actor…I don’t want to see Jeremy Irons as the butler. Jeremy Irons is supposed to be like fucking people and then like, throwing them down the stairs.”~missemmamm

brooding batman
(on the tone)
“It was a really depressing movie, most of the time.”~missemmamm
“You know, it was supposed to be emotionally deep, I suppose, but emotions do go beyond the range of sad and depressing and Lex Luthor crazy.”~Sammy Sunshine

P.S. There’s nothing after the end credits. You don’t have to wait.

Hot Topic Haul

Are we doing haul videos now? Sometimes, for fun, hell yeah! I mean, c’mon, it’s another way to share our love of Pops, aside from unboxings. Plus you can get a sneak peak of a dress that I will be wearing to Philly Comic Con this summer.

So, back in the last 90s, when I was in high school, I already had a few blogs. On one of them, I decided to run my own movie awards. I chose the categories and nominees based on what myself and my friends enjoyed. The entire idea was something that Hot Donna and I came up with. We chose the nominees. Then we polled students at both of our schools. Plus we took votes online. Back in my day, that meant folks emailing in their answers or responding to my e newsletter. You can see the original awards here. (I just reposted them on this site, because why not?) P.S. I know, I know, Leo still hasn’t won. Did I jinx him? Doh!

Leonardo DiCaprio in The Great Gatsby

The idea of these awards is that the Academy Awards are held in such high esteem, but are often films that most average people do not have the means to see, even today, even with streaming, etc. Well, you can pirate them, I guess, but that’s technically illegal, so I am not advocating it. Plus, they are so, so, so serious. Why not give out awards for films that run the gamut of genre and emotion, not just crying, so much crying. Want to know more? Watch the next 3 videos. You can also learn about what films were released in 2015, in case, like us (myself and Robert Sunshine), you’ve been super busy.

What’s so great now? You can vote, and it’s much easier. I’ll use it all, a poll on this blog, email, Facebook, twitter, Instagram, tumblr, etc

We are still hammering out the details, but categories will include the following:

Best Movie

Best Actress

Best Actor

Best Supporting Actress

Best Director

Best Writing (all)

Best Documentary

Best Animated Movie (maybe, still deciding)

Most Visually Appealing Movie

Best Apparel

Best Makeup and Hair Dos

Best Music (all)

Best Set Design

Best Visual Effects

Best Song

The exact rules on entering and dates will be announced in the upcoming poll blog. In the meantime, try to catch up on those 2015 flicks, if you can.

funko pops

I bought my first two Pops in 2014, but I didn’t really start collecting until this year. This is just a fun video that Robert Sunshine and I shot last month (Halloween costumes, ya see!) about where our collection was at then.

If you also love Pops, check this out!

The theme of the May 2015 Loot Crate was Unite. Check out my video review above and a breakdown of the items included below.

Note: Some links are Amazon affiliate links. If your cookies are cleared and you make a purchase after clicking through, then a small commission will be yielded for this site.

Exclusive Green Ranger T-shirt by Flophouse
approximately $10
power rangers tee
This is an exclusive, but I just value all tees at $10 or so. It was teased by LC that the tee for May would be Power Rangers related, so I ordered it in Robert Sunshine’s size, instead of mine. He’s the Power Ranger fan out of this couple. As usual, this shirt is made by Gildan. It is 100% cotton, so it does shrink if you don’t wash it in cold water. I forgot this time, but it still fits him fine. I’ve noticed that tees from Loot Crate seem to fit loosely, so even if you end up washing and drying them normally, they still fit well. He loves it and has gotten numerous compliments on it. I dig the design, even though I haven’t watched Power Rangers in decades. You can buy a Green Ranger costume tee for around $20 on Amazon.

Avengers: Age of Ultron Car Decal from Marvel
approximately $6.88
decal
This decal also appears to be an exclusive, as I’m not finding it anywhere online, aside from resellers. I think that it’s pretty cool. I definitely was all for this box when they announced that it would include at least two Marvel items. Other Avengers decals sell for $6.88 on Amazon.

Exclusive Team Fortress 2 4 Pin Collector’s Set
approximately $5
pins

These are another exclusive that you can’t buy anywhere else. These pins are for a free online game. I haven’t played it, but have already fallen for the pink unicorn (Balloonicorn) pin, adorable! You can play the game here FOR FREE via Steam.

Exclusive Bravest Warriors Tales from the Holo John #1 Comic by BOOM! Studios
approximately $1.99
KIMG0217
Yes, this is also an exclusive item. I don’t watch this show, but a friend of mine who does seemed to dig this comic. You can buy other Bravest Warriors comics and comic compendiums here on Amazon.

Marvel Super Heroes Ice Tray by ICUP, Inc.
$9.80
cubes
I am in love with this! Not only is it an ice cube tray with molds that include Captain America’s shield and Tony Stark’s face, but it’s also made of silicone. I plan to use it to make jello shots and candy as well as ice cubes.

Exclusive MAD Magazine Loot Crate Edition from DC Entertainment
approximately $2.66
mad
Yep, exclusive! Prior to receiving this, I hadn’t read MAD in years. However, this is totally getting me back into it. I really got a kick out of the Avengers parody comic within. A 6 issue/1 year subscription to MAD is $16 on Amazon.

Exclusive Marvel Sneaker Laces by Esquire Footwear
approximately $7
laces
These exclusive laces came in either black and white or color. They show the comic scroll that you see prior to each Marvel movie. Very fun!

Exclusive Rick and Morty Jigsaw Puzzle from Cardinal Industries, Inc.
approximately $5
puzzle
Yes, also exclusive. RS is a huge Rick and Morty fan, so he totally digs this. You can buy the first season of Rick and Morty here on Amazon.

Loot Crate May 2015 Unite Pin
approximately $1
mo
I think that these pins are cute. I do collect them, even though I don’t buy a crate every month.

Loot Crate Magazine Unite May 2015 No. 22
lc mag
I get a kick out of these “magazines”. They really are styled like one and are so much more fun to check out than the cards that other boxes tend to include. Not only do they include a rundown on the items in your box, but there are also a few related articles.

box
And lastly, the crate itself! Turned inside out, it resembles a superheroes’ locker room. I appreciate the detail that LC puts into their boxes.

Actual Price
$19.95

Approximate Retail Value
$49.33

As usual, this was another winning box content and value wise from Loot Crate.
